Mario Hernàndez

Mario is Mexican. He has a mathematical educational background (PhD level), has worked on software and hardware development for satellite image processing at IBM Research Centers in Mexivo, USA and Europe. Mario joined the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), the Global Resources Information Database, GRID, working both in Geneva, Switzerland and Nairobi, Kenia assisting developing counties on the use of satellite images as applied for their State of the Environment reporting.
He joined UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) to manage a network of space agencies, space research institutes and the space private sector working under the framework of the ESA — UNESCO Open Initiative on the use of space technologies to support the World Heritage Convention.
Mario is now visiting Professor to the Chinese academy of Sciences, Regional Representative for Latin America of the International Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ISPRS), Vice-President of the International Society for Digital Earth (ISDE) and Mentor for the European Commission Copernicus space Programme.
