Richard Simpson

Richard Simpson is Senior Fellow, Melbourne School of Engineering, University of Melbourne, Australia; Chief Executive, Meta Moto, Brisbane, Australia.
Richard Simpson’s career includes politics, bioengineering, digital engineering and spatial sciences. He has over 25 years international experience in leading the design and development of the large spatial infrastructures for major cities and some of the world’s largest utility and infrastructure organisations. He has authored several books, serves on the Council of the International Society of Digital Earth (ISDE), and as honorary Senior Fellow at the University of Melbourne and also Griffith University. He has appointments as expert adviser to Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) and building SMART (bSI) joint working group for the Integrated Digital Built Environment.
Meta Moto has served clients in the Government, Communications, Transport, Construction, Investment and Utilities sectors. The company has advised digital twin strategies for several high-profile projects throughout Australia, New Zealand and the Asia Pacific.
